Winter is gearing up to hit our Westborough, MA dealership. When the snow hits the roads, will you be prepared?
Eric the Car Guy lays down some advice based on his years working as a mechanic.
First, check your tires. Your tread must be at least 2/32 inch deep, but ideally should be deeper than that. The type of tires you ride on is important, too. Snow tires, or all-season tires are a minimum, but studded snow tires offer the best grip.
You can run studded tires in the Boston area from November through April.
Protect your vehicle from corrosive rust by giving it a thorough wash and wax before it will be exposed to road salt. Waxing can help prevent oxidation.
Be sure to check your car for any mechanical problems before the first snow. Once it starts snowing, it can be difficult to make repairs if you are a DIY-er, and you put yourself at risk of breaking down in a storm.
If you prefer to have a professional check over your vehicle, visit our service center at Autobahn USA. Fresh and effective engine fluids can prevent freeze damage, and a fully charged battery will ensure your engine starts the first time you turn the key.
